Saturday night was scheduled to be opening night for the big block modifieds at Lebanon Valley Speedway. However, persistent rains set in just after 6 p.m. ET. After 45 minutes of attempting to keep the track run in and a bad forecast eventually resulted in the card being called off.

Due to the forecast, the track chose to start their card 45 minutes early.  Thanks to that decision, they were able to get two features and heat races for the Modifieds and Pro Stocks complete.

Sportsman teams finished their first heat, but the rains stopped the card before the remaining heats could be completed.  The 358 Modifieds and Limited Sportsman teams never got onto the track after hot laps.  As a result, this evening will not count for those classes.

For May 2 at Lebanon Valley, the Modifieds and Pro Stocks will continue from that point and will not have heat races. The other classes will have a full night of action.

In Street Stocks, Franklin Smith started from the pole, but quickly lost his advantage to Jeff Meltz Sr. Further back, Keri VanDenburg spun in turn 4 and brought out a yellow.

Smith's race came to an end a couple of laps later when a failure saw him slide up and nearly hit the wall in turn 3.  Through all of this, Anthony King was quickly moving up the order from 11th on the grid.

On the restart, King was already up to third and saw an opening to the outside. That allowed him to blast around Meltz and Dave Streibel Jr. to take the lead.

Once in the lead, King pulled out to a two-second lead. Further back, King's teammate Chris Stalker got himself up to second with Streibel Jr. giving chase.

The defending Street Stock champ was the closest match to the two Hillsdale-based entries, but his night ended on the frontstretch on lap 12. The leaders came upon the slower car of Dylan Quintero exiting turn 4, sending everyone scattering. Streibel Jr. went low and that was the wrong as he hit Quintero, then hit the inside wall. Both drivers were ok, but out on the spot.

From there, King was able to hold on to win his third straight race to start the season. He ended up 1.1 seconds ahead of Stalker at the finish. Dave Streibel was third, then Meltz and Gary O'Brien.

The Claverack Well & Pump Services 4-Cylinder class was also able to race at the beginning of the program. Here, last week's winner Dawson Thompson ran into trouble almost immediately as he slid into the wall in turn 1 on the first lap. He was able to drive away and keep the yellow from coming out, but he ultimately retired his car.

Defending 4-Cylinder champion Jason Peck started from pole in his Honda Civic and was never threatened en route to victory. He won by 7.827 seconds over Stephen Burka.  Prudence Peterson was third.
